"The Sutherland Centre is overwhelmed and useless"

The Sutherland Centre could have been an amazing addition to our community - an actual secondary care facility for mental health! *gasp*

And, as you'd expect of an NHS service nowadays, it is now complete garbage. You will wait 4 months for an appointment even though you are calling about how suicidal you feel. You will ask for help over the phone and then that will be referred to a committee who have never met you; they will 'delay' the meeting about whether you need 'extra emotional support' (I asked for a referral to a talking therapy like CBT); you will wait 7 weeks to find out how the committee voted and then the outcome of that will be 'you have a medication review in 4 months so let's just wait for that'.

A clean facility and pleasant staff means absolutely nothing if they don't offer you anything. For God's sake, I was referred to the Centre after a suicide attempt. They've seen me twice since then, and that was August 2017.

Save yourself some time and go through Healthy Minds instead. A warning though: once you're registered at a secondary care facility, Healthy Minds will turn you away because they are a primary care facility. Together, Healthy Minds and the Sutherland Centre box you into a place where you're getting zero help and taking medication you don't want to take because nobody will actually help you.

Don't go to the Sutherland Centre unless they make you. It isn't worth it. I'm stuck between nothing (the Sutherland Centre) and nothing (Healthy Minds) with nobody to help me.
