I had to go to urgent care because what began as blisters developed into open, pussy sores on my ankle, swollen feet, ankles and calves and not only was it painful to stand and walk, but my feet were so huge that I couldn't physically fit them in my shoes (and I really tried). They'd been bad and puffy since Wednesday and I tried to treat them myself with antiseptic etc, but on Friday I tried to stand up and nearly fell over because of the pain and puffiness. I called 111 and they advised me to go to urgent care.
I went on a Friday evening so obviously the wait time wasn't going to be great (through no fault of the staff - just the volume of patients, some of whom frankly did not need to be there - they easily could have waited and seen their GP). I arrived around midnight and was finally seen at about 4am. During my wait, staff asked me if I needed any painkillers and one even made a makeshift ice pack from cold water in a tied up rubber glove. Doctor was patient and really kind which my sleep-deprived self really appreciated.
I only moved to London a week ago, and I feel a lot safer now knowing that if I ever need urgent care again (which hopefully I don't), there are such wonderful people who can help.
"Lovely staff doing a difficult job"
