"Awareness of condition"

About: Doncaster Royal Infirmary / General medicine

(as other),

mistake made by the ward and confirmed by endoscopy

my wife was brought in to be in a day before she had endoscopy done due to fact was sick and cancelled then put to july as finish up with a crises

after spending a day there was taken down to the endoscopy and was told that they could not do it as had not had enough of prep by the ward now has to wait for a new appointment again.  on top of this with my wife having addison she doubled up steriods on that day as told by her consultant at dri and that a 100mg should be used on day of the endoscopy

the ward dint know with addison people when they not allowed to drink from a certain time that it will cause dehydration in patients of addison was also told they would keep a check on her to make sure she not sick or going into crises failed again and finally meds was offered paracetamol last time made her feel sick yet under her gp she is on other painkillers and has been for some years she refused the paracetamol

they was shown her medication list but ignored this. meds should not been changed the staff need to learn about addisons i had to phone someone in dri who does the addisons for her to phone the ward up about injection percidiers and to be on a drip as would dehydrate then would lead to a crises people with addison not treated go in to a coma followed by death
