Today, Saturday 14 July 2018, I had an appointment to see the consultant in the General Medical Outpatients.
The Reception was very welcoming and efficient, and my appointment with the consultant not only very thorough and enlightening, but conducted in a generous and very comforting manner - and some excellent help and advice proffered!. What an inspiring Doctor!
Having had occasion to visit the hospital in the last couple of years for various concerns (kidney stone, prostate worries, ankle issues, and extreme neuropathic pain) I have nothing but the greatest regard and praise for all those staff I met in the hospital, ranging from the consultants and doctors down through to the nurses, orderlies and ancillary staff!
It annoys and irritates me when I read the sorts of criticism levelled, day to day, at these exceptionally dedicated people.
We are extremely blessed to have this NHS - and when one stands at the various entrances to this fine hospital it is amazing how they manage to cope with this tsunami of mankind coming through the doors, seeking their assistance.
And it is hardly surprising that the NHS is under such pressure when you see the huge increase in older patients. Wonderful and grateful is all I can say!
