My elderly mother attended for usual tests at beginning of May prior to surgery. for knee replacement. She received a call to say all was okay apart from being very slightly anaemia which was nothing to be worried about and she should contact her doctor for iron tablets.
She attended the doctor who in turn carried out blood tests the results of which indicated she was not anaemic and therefore did not require medication which they indicated would be dangerous if she didn’t need them.
Her ability to get around has deteriorated greatly over the past nine weeks and she had a fall a few weeks ago. Her GP surgery contacted Wrightington to try to get some indication of where she was on the list for surgery and was notified that she had been removed from the list because of her blood count. My mother has never been notified of this and has been patiently waiting for a letter to drop through her door with a surgery date.
She is absolutely devastated and doesn’t know where to turn.
Her GP is arranging yet another blood test even though she had only had one a couple of weeks ago which indicated all was okay.
It’s a very very sad state of affairs.p and not one she deserves.
I feel totally helpless and guilty but despite this I am still giving 5 stars in the hope that someone will do something soon.
