Seen in the Diagnostic Cardiology Unit of the Northern General Hospital as was unable to have the test done in Barnsley.
A little late being seen but no worry about that.
I was very impressed with the 3 staff involved with my test, though I can only remember the Consultant’s name.
He told me that he has a doctorate as well as his medical qualifications.
I myself have a doctorate in combustion chemistry.
I became quite stressed as it was difficult trying to get me to swallow to allow the probe with transducer to get down my gullet, in order to examine my heart valves, especially the aortic valve.
The consultant had real patience with me.
I can say the test itself is very unpleasant, much worse than a gastroscopy or endoscopy.
The test was a success and confirmed that I’ll require surgery shortly to most probably replace the aortic valve.
The other 2 staff were also excellent with my care, as I can be frustrating by talking a lot as my research background makes me very interested to find out about what’s happening etc
Anyway we’ll done the Northern General and I look forward to some similar excellent treatment when I have the surgery.
Best wishes from
Dr Geoffrey Evans
