This morning (Wednesday 11th July) I visited Chard hospital in regards to my left shoulder.
When I got there I was informed that there was only one nurse practitioner on shift which I instantly thought was unacceptable. After 1 hour and 45 minutes of waiting I had to step outside to contact my work place letting them know there was a possibility I would be late due to the long wait. Whilst I was on the phone I was approached in a very rude and abrupt manner by the nurse saying "you coming or what".
I ended my call and followed the Nurse in. As any Nurse/Doctor does she began the small talk to put patients at ease followed by a brief conversation in regards to the pain etc in my shoulder. Not at any point did she touch or even look to assess my shoulder in anyway, just advised me physiotherapy might be whats needed and then told me I could leave.
I believe I did not receive the correct care and attention that I should have done, nor did I get any answers or solutions to the injury I needed checked. Whilst I understand our NHS is very stretched, overworked and underpaid, patients still need to be assessed in the correct way. I feel like I wasted nearly 2 hours to walk away no wiser to the problem let alone the correct treatment for the injury. For all she could have known I could broken/fractured or seriously injured my left shoulder in another way and yet still sent me away regardless of this.
Not only did I leave none the wiser, still in a tremendous amount of pain but also extremely frustrated and unhappy with the care that I was provided.
"Very unhappy with the care that I received"
