Having availed myself many times over the years of Musgrove Park Hospital services, I have needed to attend twice this year for surgery on a detached retina, the second operation being in the last few weeks.
From the very moment I walked into Blake Ward on the second floor and being greeting with a warm welcome and a friendly smile by Jane the receptionist, I felt immediately at ease. Was ushered into an assessment room and again two young nurses, Sialon and Anna, both in D Bay, cheerfully asked me questions and quietly gave me my medications prior to my eye operation.
The morning progressed and then it was my turn to be treated! It was a joy to see Mr. Park the surgeon, for whom I have unlimited praise, and his team Jo (who had attended me previously), Shaun and Justin, the anaesthetists, they were smiling and made the whole experience a pleasant and reassuring one. As you may imagine, I enjoy the banter!
Returning to the side ward when I awoke I met Alana the Staff Nurse and Sharon HCA who attended me throughout her shift plying me with iced water (very hot day) and food later in the day to 'keep me going'.
Evening approached and the night shift team coped admirably ... named Page and Leona I believe... as they had to deal with an extra situation during the night as well as deal with all the patients. This again they did with a smile and incredible patience.
Each and every person is a credit to their profession .... and I so want them to know how grateful I am for their kindness and understanding ... it meant the world to me.
"Kindness, professionalism and compassion"
