"Despicable care"

About: Gloucestershire Royal Hospital / Accident and emergency

I arrived frightened with double vision after being told by 111 that I needed to be seen within the hour. I told the receptionist this and she said "they tell everyone that lOVE. We will decide" in a rude and dismissive manner reducing me into tears as I was so scared about my sight. We arrived at 9:40pm we were freezing cold dressed for the summer and the air con was so high. At 2am my husband after asking was told that it would be at least another two hours so he had to leave me by the nurses station and get home to our son they promised they would look after me as I was unable to see. For the next two and a half hours I sat in front of them violently shivering and crying and they didnt talk to me once. I could hear them discussing how cold it was light heartedly and also joking about who the person was waiting the longest (that was me based on the 6 and a half hour wait I had had so far). When finally seen the fr barely looked at me and I was so tired and over emotional I didnt have my wits about me. She brushed it off as migraines which made no sense, i had migraine auras for twenty years. Not once had it made my vision double for 8 hours as well as one eyeball turn outwards. She made me feel foolish and just brushed me off. Since then I have had a second opinion from my optician my dr and the eye a&e in the JR in Oxford and all seem quite astounded that it was just brushed off as migraines as clearly its not migraines. The whole place was uncomfortable, unfriendly, freezing with poor care. Disgusted.
