I'm in my fifties and going through the menopause. Earlier this year I had an unexpected bleed, after telling my mum she encouraged me (well kept on at me, I can tell you) to see my GP. So I went along to see my local GP and they said that they'd book me in for blood tests and a scan at Bolton hospital. My blood tests came back clear. Following this I had two scans and a biopsy at the hospital. My Consultant, Mr Chatoo gave me the news that I had unfortunately had a thickening of the womb and was diagnosed with the early stage of womb cancer, this was confirmed with an MRI scan. I was then appointed a Gynae-Oncology Specialist Nurse, Deb's who took me by the hand and helped me prepare for my hysterectomy. Having never had an operation the build-up was quite an ordeal. It was just a month before Mr Chatoo operated on me and I had a full hysterectomy removing my uterus, ovaries cervix and fallopian tubes.
I'm extremely grateful to everyone involved from the diagnosis of cancer through to the removal of my womb and now on to my road to recovery.
Thank you from the bottom of my heart x
