"Ok I suppose"

About: St James's University Hospital / Older people's healthcare

Review of chancellor wing elderly medicine.

Can’t fault the medical side of things getting mum back on her feet etc.

Some things did niggle me though. Mum was in a bay with 5 other elderly ladies. At least 3 with memory issues plus one very ill lady.

There was a shared TV in the bay positioned where the patients could watch it.

Guess what was on - yes football the World Cup turned up very loud. Obviously for the benefit of staff! Why would 6 elderly mostly confused ladies some who were exhausted and obviously needed to sleep, want to watch football and football commentaries all day long!

If a TV is available to patients it should benefit the patients not the staff!

One care assistant was very sharp and abrupt. She told an elderly lady off for spilling water on herself and she said rather loudly “that’s the fourth time I’ve had to change you now”.

Poor woman was one of those with confusion she kept apologising. I realise it’s hard and frustrating at times but hey if staff want a rant they should have a moan privately to each other to let off steam and not at patients.
