It is with regret that I write this review. The communication within Gynaecology and patient in my experience is nothing short of shocking. After being put on the waiting list for a diagnostic laparoscopy in January after months of pain and trips to GP and A&E I actually thought a resolution was in sight. It is now July, and after liaising with PALS because despite leaving messages to the department no-one ever rang back, I have been told that the waiting time for this operation is ONE YEAR! That is a year of such pain that sleep is impossible, a year of taking tramadol and morphine and a year of being unable to eat or socialise or WORK! This is from a member of NHS staff who has had so much time off sick with pain that there is the real possibility of losing her job! This department is obviously so overworked and I do feel for the staff, but they should keep patients informed, especially about having to wait a year for an operation, and absolutely should return calls.
