"Lack of a discharge plan of any kind"

About: University Hospital Wishaw / General Surgery (Wards 16-18)

(as a relative),

My sister was recently in Wishaw General Hospital and was unexpectedly discharged despite being told 2 days before by the Consultant to 'take her time getting better - there was no rush' No discharge plan no discussion with her or family about how she could manage living alone.   What matters to me? A tick box exercise at best!

Dear TMD,

Thank you for taking the time to get in touch. It is disappointing to hear that your sister's discharge was not planned or discussed with her or her family. This is not the service that we expect to be provided to our patients. Can I ask you to contact our patient affairs department on 01698 366558 with the details and I will look into this to see what has happened.

Best Wishes

Maureen
