Initially was impressed with the consultant and team, although there was quite a long wait for surgery.
Was offered an earlier date with another consultant (not really given a choice to decline) and the implications of changing consultants was never explained. Had surgery in April 2018, was not seen by a surgeon prior to discharge, so nothing explained, just handed a discharge letter that stated what was done and to expect a follow up appointment in 3/12.
Since then, have suffered complications, that the GP is unable / limited to assist with despite their best efforts. Have attempted to contact the initial consultants secretary who informed me that they there is no record of me having any surgery at NGH, and that she cannot really help as I had the surgery under a different consultant. I Have spent hours on the phone trying to get an appointment / advice, GP have tried and still no luck, until Friday when I received a letter for a generic vascular clinic under a 3rd consultant, at a different hospital for September 2018 (5 months after the operation). Where is the continuity of care? Where is the compassion, support and treating patients with respect and dignity??
I am truly disgusted by the lack of support, the appaling organisational structure and concerned about the apparent disregard to patient safety!!!
"Traumatised by appaling vascular aftercare!!"
