My dad has just returned from holiday to be greeted by a letter from Orthopaedic department at Wishaw general hospital which has left him angry and frustrated. Despite being in agony there is no attempted resolution and they have actually discharged him from the clinic. This seems completely unsatisfactory that neither a solution or relevant advice has been given in order to try and improve pain levels he is facing on a daily basis.
Due to the long wait with the NHS from point of referral and the continuous and increasing pain he is experiencing he was left with no option but to self-fund a private consultation and imaging to get to the bottom of what was wrong with his knees due to the pain being intolerable. He then received results and was advised that a Multiple Arthroscopic operation on both knees was required. It’s clear that a procedure is necessary given the pain experienced and imaging results, now having got to top of the waiting list on the NHS and having seen a consultant he has been advised there is nobody within this area that can perform the procedure required, this doesn’t seem acceptable or possible that it can’t be done having known people who have had this surgery over the years.
Please note that at the consultation my dad didn’t even have his knees examined and after one consultation and no action or remedy he has been discharged from the clinic.
This is having a major impact on his day to day living, due to the lack of mobility and unbearable pain which is causing him to be restricted in what he can do and nearing the stage where he will not be fit to work.
"discharged without solution"
