"Getting an appointment"

About: Cleveland Surgery

Phoned at 8am to try and get an appointment for my husband

Gave up and went to the surgery

At 8.07 the only appointment available was in the afternoon.

1. how many slots are available each day for same day appointments

2. Are appointments pre-booked and therefore blocking access to same day slots

3. why is there not a variety of appointment available on line.

4. why is the doctor always booked on the same day with 4 minutes of the phone line opening.

5. The Dr we did see listened to my husband, did not perform a physical exam

made assumptions based on the explanation and only prescribed a small amount of medication which only provides a sub optimal dose to control the pain. He was not interested in the patient and main objective seemed to be to get us out quickly.

My husband, who is a West Lindsey district councillor is disgusted by the poor level of access and feels that the nurses and the reception staff are having to carry a group of doctors who are not interested in providing an appropriate level of productivity .

Thank you for your comments, and we are sorry to hear about your experience. We would like to re-assure you that we have pre-bookable, appointments that are available on the day, online booking for GPs only, a walk in sit and wait surgery 4 days per week and if there are any urgent issues that day we have a duty GP, where staff take the information and speak to the duty GP and advise accordingly. We also run during busy periods a triage system where the GP will call patients and if the GP feels that they need to be seen then they are asked to come to the surgery, or an appointment given for the next day. We do appreciate that patients wish to see a certain member of our clinical team, unfortunately this is not always possible.
