"A&E Visit for Eye Problem"

About: William Harvey Hospital (Ashford) / Ophthalmology

My wife was sent to A&E by her GP 5 weeks ago. She attended for a follow up visit 3 weeks ago. This was in respect of a problem with her right eye.

Last night her left eye started to close and was painful. It worsened overnight and so i took her to the Rotary Suite where she had been seen on the previous 2 occasions. Initially we were told they did not offer a walk in clinic but when we explained that my wife had been treated there before for the same problem the receptionist said she would see if she could find some help. She came back very quickly to say a doctor/consultant would see us. We waited no more than 10 minutes or so before we were called in. My wife was given a full examination of her left eye and the doctor/consultant consulted her notes. He then prescribed steroid eye drops and told my wife to come back if the problem worsened. We were very happy at the treatment we received and the speed of that treatment.
