What could be improved

The Swan Ward - post natal - needs to provide anti bacterial/alcohol wipes like they did last year when I was there previously having had a baby. The loos have far too much blood drips ect and no way to clean it up especially when it's dried during the night from mums using the loos. They post natal bathrooms are not cleaned enough by cleaning staff considering the amount of blood new mums lose. Very unhygenic.

Swan Ward has recently had its cleaning levels significantly uplifted and now receives regular unannounced spot checks for cleanliness. We have also reviewed the weekly cleaning rota for the ward and made significant improvements so that it is less disruptive for mothers and new babies. We have ensured that wipes are available in all bathrooms for mothers to use and have information of whom to inform in the area if the facilities do not meet the expected standards. Cleanliness and Infection Prevention and Control are very important to us in keeping our patients safe. Thank you for raising this issue with us and the Director of Nursing will continue to monitor this situation.
