"Fees for signing a form"

About: Birmingham and the Black Country

(as the patient),

I required a form signing in order to secure my place on a teacher training course and got charged £75. I wasn't told when I asked for the form to be signed how much it would cost, but was told I would get a call once the front desk had confirmed the price with the GP.

I had filled in the form myself and the GP just needed to check it, which actually the front desk did and confirmed the details I'd entered to be correct before giving it to the GP to sign. The member of staff at the front desk made it clear that it had been a very simple task for her and the GP wasn't required to do anything more than sign and stamp the form. Of course I'm upset about the cost. I'm on minimum wage and about to become a student teacher - the price was punitive and not transparent.
