"Barnsley Intensive Care Unit - Thank you!"

My father was transfered to Barnsley Intensive Care from the Royal Hallamshire Hospital as they felt that he was the best patient to move (we will never know).

This was a very traumatic time for my family as we had heard terrible stories about this hospital, the care he had recieved at the Hallamshire ITU had been very difficult for us and being a nurse I had started to lose my faith in the health service and of the caring profession.

All that can be said is that the care my father recieved at Barnsley was exceptional, my father suddenly became the individual he was and my mother became someone also. The care the nurses gave to him in his emotional and physical was outstanding and we will all always be indebted to them for allowing him the dignity and respect that he deserved.

Thank you Barnsly ITU not just to one person but to every single member of the multi-disciplinary team, you have helped restore some of my faith in the health service, your care and communication outshone any other care that he had previously received. THANK YOU!
