For the past 2 years I had suffered with a pain at the top of my foot which appeared to be a corn. My own private podiatrist dealt with it as best he good. At the beginning of this year I was able to wear just one particular pair of boots and as the warmer weather arrived, just one particular pair of sandals. I was in great pain whenever I wore anything and the pain had now developed into an ugly lump topped by a corn. I asked to be referred to the Podiatry Department at Holme Valley Memorial Hospital in Holmfirth, Huddersfield and the lump was x-rayed and scanned. It turned out to be a fixator from a bunion operation 8 years ago! Within 4 weeks of the initial appointment the fixator was removed - it looked like a staple! Once the numbness of the operation had gone, so had any pain in my foot! The stitches have been removed and I honestly feel, and walk, so much better.
All the staff, from receptionist to consultant, were absolutely fantastic. They couldn't have been kinder, more courteous or more professional. It was my first experience of a procedure at this hospital and the best experience I could have wished for.
