"Provision of information about clinics running late"

About: Royal Hallamshire Hospital / Ear, Nose and Throat

(as a service user),

The Doctor provided excellent clinical care and helpful explanations about my condition. However on both visits to ENT outpatient clinic at the Royal Hallamshire Hospital in Sheffield, I have been seen over an hour late. I understand that clinicians run late and am happy to wait. However I would welcome the receptionist advising me of the delay on arrival for the appointment and further updates whilst waiting. It can be stressful worrying while waiting and also not knowing how long the wait is likely to be. It would greatly enhance patient care to be kept informed. I was told the doctor was running 50 minutes late after I had waited 45 minutes.   There was a board showing waiting times, but only one clinician had information noted.

Thank you for leaving feedback and we are really sorry you had a significant wait and were not kept updated. Your feedback will be passed to the ENT management team. However if you would also like us to look into this in more detail please do not hesitate to contact our Patient Services Team. You can do this either by calling them on 0114 271 2400 or by emailing them at pst@sth.nhs.uk.

With thanks and best wishes
