"Parliamentary failures"

About: The Royal National Orthopaedic Hospital (Stanmore)

Another astonishing experience at the Royal National Orthopaedic Hospital. So we spent several hours at the hospital with the usual and expected delays and excuses but we were shocked to find out that the reason was that the health minister was visiting. Surely care should be amazing when he is in the grounds not move to standstill as everyone piles to be around him. I thought patients come first?? Not in our case.

Sorry to hear you had to experience a significant delay. The Sec of State was on site speaking to staff for approx one hour and all staff who attended (around 120 out of 1500), were permitted to do so only if it did not affect patient care. If your delay was for 'several hours' it is deeply unfortunate but unlikely to be because of the visit by Jeremy Hunt MP. We're keen to understand why and how your delay in care happened so if you'd like to forward information about this to us please do via rnoh.pals@nhs.net. Many thanks.
