I was admitted to the day surgery unit today, (3rd July 2018) following a failed hysteroscopy last week. I had to come in as this needed to be done with a general anaesthetic.
The team that I saw last week in gynaecology was excellent, two nurses and a consultant. I was very nervous and worried about the pain of the procedure and they were all kindness itself. I was also very disappointed and upset at having to wait to find out if there was anything wrong, a nerve wracking experience for anyone, and again I was treated really sympathetically.
I received a follow up appointment by first class post for today, and two phone calls to confirm, together with a detailed letter and pamphlet about what to expect, all very helpful and not worrying like Googling!
Today I was dealt with so kindly and efficiently by every single member of staff I came in contact with, nothing was too much trouble. Although my operation was a quick one my experience was very positive and I particularly appreciate the reassurance from the consultant before I left to go home, that meant a huge amount to me and my family.
I also appreciated being in a same sex ward, this is so much better when you are feeling vulnerable, one less thing to worry about.
Everyone who works at the Royal Surrey, I would like you to know how much I appreciate you, you are all stars in my book. Thank you.
