"THIS IS A GOOD SURGERY"

About: Penryn Surgery

My wife and I moved to Penryn from a Falmouth practice. By and large the service is clearly good and above average. The 8am phone in for appointments on the same day is a drag. Is it almost inevitable in the stressed 2018 NHS.

BUT THERE NEEDS TO BE SOME ARRANGEMENT FOR OLD FRAIL PEOPLE WHO WILL NOT COPE WITH THIS SORT OF SYSTEM and are often most in need.

? separate phone number for them and appointments held back until e.g. 11am so when the other same day appointments are filled, younger patients could be told that if they ring in after 11am, there may be some free appointments.

Thank you for your review. Please be assured that the duty team will always be available to deal with requests for urgent treatment on the day, even if all our routine appointments have been booked. Patients of any age who think their symptoms are urgent for assessment on the same day will receive an initial telephone consultation from either the duty doctor or one of our emergency care practitioners. We also have on-line appointment booking from 8am on the day or for booking in advance and we find that patients of all ages use this service as it avoids those early morning telephone queues.
