I just wanted to write and say a big thank you to you and all at the Maxillofacial unit and also to all the Nurses and staff on Salisbury Ward at Northwick Park Hospital. Obviously when I was diagnosed with tongue cancer it was a dramatic and devastating time, especially as sixteen years earlier my sister had had the same cancer, unfortunately she did not survive. So when I was diagnosed it brought back some very dramatic and sad memories for me and also for my family. The way that everyone dealt with me and especially my wife before the operation was caring and considerate, particularly when I had doubts about the surgery from the memories of my sister, you all gave me hope and a positive outlook as to what was to come.
During the operation and the immediate aftercare (I hear from wife), was absolutely outstanding from the ICU unit where I was looked after immediately after the operation to all the nurses and staff on the Salisbury ward where you all looked after me with dignity and attention to my needs. Everyone was friendly caring and just made the whole experience bearable, all of you worked the long hours with a smile on your faces which made it a pleasant environment to recover in. Additionally, all the registrars, doctors and other people and departments that came to see me were always friendly and talked to me in the most considerate manor.
I would like to say a very big thank you for making a dramatic time in my life a bearable experience, I hope that nobody has to go through this but if they do they should all know that they couldn’t be in better hands.
Thank you all so much
"couldn't be in better hands"
