"Staff at Hairmyres Hospital"

About: Scottish Ambulance Service / Emergency Ambulance University Hospital Hairmyres / Emergency Department

(as a relative),

At the weekend, my wife suddenly felt unwell. Chest pain and tingly down her arm. I took her to A&E at Hairmyres, drove into the wrong part (Ambulances Only ) in my panic. Knocked the door of an Ambulance with two crew inside it and asked for help. They were remarkable in their calming me down and looking after my wife. They took her into A&E who went about their business.

By the time I had been to reception to give all the details my wife was already in Resuscitation. Between the two lady Ambulance crew and a Nurse called Jill as well as the rest of the staff the professionalism was exemplary.

You only find out how good the NHS is when you have to use it.

Thank you all very much.

Dear Very Grateful Husband,

Thank you for taking the time to post such positive comments regarding your wife's recent visit to University Hospital Hairmyres. I am pleased you found the hospital and ambulance staff professional and supportive during what must have been a very anxious time for you and your wife. Please be assured that your comments will be shared with the staff in the Accident & Emergency department, particularly Jill and I have no doubt she will be delighted for the feedback.

I hope your wife's health continues to improve and thanks once again for posting.

regards

Margaret

Dear Very Grateful Husband,

Thank you so much for taking the time to share your feedback on CareOpinion. It sounds like you had a very stressful situation and to have more stress added by driving into an area that was marked ambulances only must have proved quite worrying. But to read that our staff were then very helpful and made you feel better is great to hear.

I hope that your wife is on the road to recovery and I would like to wish you both the very best.

Kind Regards

Alan
