So I got sent to A&E by my doctor hVing visited him in the morning to say I had intense lower back pain and overnight had lost the full use of my legs and bladder. That although I could walk again with pins and needles feelings I still had no bladder control which was really in nerving. I got to A&E and git passed to a second window where I git asked why I was there. In public with a queue of people behind me I didn’t want to say out loud, so I just Saudi bad back pain but that my doctor had telephoned and told told I would be going straight to an ward to hVe a scan. Well the person sniggered at my response and told me to sit down. Was that really their trige assessment?
Hours later the pain unbearable, no water in a&e and can’t Ha vet other drinks due to milk allergy. I waited thinking I had no pads left and would nit able to come control peeing on the floor.
When I was eventually seen I was told that I had to have a bed to have a scan but didn’t know when a bed would be available and that I couldn’t leVe the department even to get a drink. Six hour shift later and I am soaked through to my dress, nothing to drink , no bed or trolley and they say still no bed available so that I can have a scan the next day, or day after, still sat on metal chair.
They couldn’t tell me why I couldn’t go home and come back in the morning leaving a bed free fir someone else.
Anyway I left to get more pads, leav8ng my phone number. At 11.30pm that evening I get a call from the ward telling me they cNt find me but a bed is now ready,! They hadn’t missed me for like 3 hours!
I was in too much pain too travel and stayed where I was returning the next day, waiting again and finally getting my mri scan.
3 hours wait and talked and A&E doctor who told me i reed to see a spinal specialist but he wouldn’t refer me back to my gP should.
It’s now two months later and he still hasn’ received scan to refer me. Rang and left messages everyday for a week.
Apparently it is lost! How can you lose electricitronoclly recorded data?
So I am padded up, with collapsed vertebra and due to have a knee replacement on 19th July and the anesthetist needs to know I can’t have an epidural, but still no scan to show. HIm or a referral to a consultant.
Disgraceful no contact back , nothing.
"A&E shambolic and lost my scan."
