"No Results Sent to my GP or Myself (9 Months..."

About: Leicester Royal Infirmary / Dermatology

I feel it only fair to give all the positive feedback to the Dermatology Department as a whole firstly. The Dermatologist was so professional and polite. The reception staff were excellent. The nurses were brilliant. BUT, unfortunately, I and the GPs have received NO results via email or letter. The results of patch tests were on October 6th 2017. I talked about how to treat chronic severe Dyshidrotic Eczema (DE), being as I have suffered with it for 10 years now and tried everything imaginable (researched so much via the Internet and spent a small fortune). My GP and I have been patiently awaiting my results. It is almost 9 months since the results were being sent to the surgery and myself. Due to being ill with an infection in my respiratory tract (from a virus) and having to visit the GP with my chronic severe DE, I asked my GP if he knew why I haven’t received any results or follow-up tests/treatments. He immediately looked on the Surgery’s system and found nothing whatsoever since referring me to the Dermatologist last April 2017 as URGENT (myself receiving a letter in late July, then the appointment letters a while afterwards - to attend the LRI on Monday 2nd October, Wednesday 4th, then Friday 6th October 2017). I was advised by the GP (Tuesday 26th June 2018) to ring the Dermatology Dept. at the LRI as soon as I got home that afternoon from the surgery and chemist. I did so and received no reply, but left my name, number, what it was regarding, along with my NHS No. On Wednesday morning (before 11am) a staff member gave me a number to speak to their secretary. I was told not to ring until midday onwards, so I waited until a short while after midday. I rang 5 times, the phone rang and rang, then each time it eventually went to an answerphone. I left messages. By the fifth call I admit I was really suffering with my skin and a virus, along with waiting SO long for NO results, so asked profusely to be called back ASAP, PLEASE! I then tried 3 more other numbers for the Derm. Dept. to no avail each time. 9 calls in total I made that afternoon and nothing. So I rang the GPs and the receptionist kindly asked their secretaries to ring for me on Thursday morning when back in the surgery. They did so, but it took a long time to receive any answer. Then the Derm. Dept. Secretary rang me before 3pm. I missed the call by seconds but quickly rang straight back. I was spoken to very abruptly and unfairly. I was told neither myself nor the surgery needed to receive results! I was told I’d had a letter to attend Coalville Clinic last year, for which I hadn’t even received a letter! She also told me I cancelled a non-existent appointment with CC and said she’ll get back to me soon! I thanked her for finally ringing me, but she hung up. I was in tears afterwards - the extra upset it has caused me is awful, and I’ve been advised to form a complaint, unfortunately. DE causes high pain, anxiety and depression approx.10 mths/year, so it’s escalated the anxiety.
