I was referred here after I had had EMDR privately for over a year and wanted to continue my progress but in a less brutal way. Initially asked for DBT, was instead set up with a care co ordinator (I think? Her role was never actually made clear to me) for reasons that never became apparent.
She didn't ask me questions, she sat and stared silently at me with a disgusted look on her face for 30 minutes while speaking the bare minimum. It became clear that this woman had a problem with my diagnosis and seemed reluctant to work with someone who might be unstable. I requested DBT again in person, she informed me that I could expect to wait 8 months for an appointment and then I was sent on my way; she never clarified what the purpose of my meeting her was. There was no follow up, no communication, no aftercare to speak of - despite the fact that my GP had me down as high risk for suicide/attempt. They didn't even review the medications I was on, which is something my GP had specifically asked them to do.
The last mental health service I was referred to was also NHS, but in a different city before I moved here. There I had a care co ordinator who I saw weekly, and they had referred me to a specialist in the disorder I have been diagnosed with. Then I moved here and had to go to Lyme Brook.
My advice to anyone referred to this service is that you go somewhere else, or just do what I did and forego treatment until you can afford private help.
I can't speak for all the staff at Lyme Brook but the overwhelming impression I got was that they have given up.
I got the impression that no doctors actually work there. If you attempt to get treatment at Lyme Brook I can guarantee that you will referred for CBT no matter what your condition, or a single meeting with a care co ordinator who is apathetic at best, and seemingly uninformed.
They do not want to help you and they don't think your problems are worth their time.
Go somewhere else.
