"a service we would be lost without"

About: Woodland View Nursing Home

(as a relative),

My mother is a resident in Woodland View Nursing Home and has enhanced care needs, I would like to thank the hard working staff at Woodland View for caring for her.I find staff are responsive to both positive and negative feedback, which gives you confidence that you can raise issues when required. The home also asks relatives to provide written feedback in order to evaluate care and service provision.

During my mothers time at Woodland View Nursing Home, we had some ups and downs literally, but most staff are now familiar with my mothers needs.

Staff ensure that I am involved in my mothers care planning and keep me up to date via phone or in person. I am sure staff will endeavour and strive to ensure optimal care is sustained and that residents lead a fulfilled life even if affected by debilitation.

My mother requires one to one care provision at times, and I have recently noticed this is planned in a structured way,  in that members of staff use a rota ensuring clear communication enables staff and family to know who is caring for my mother at any given time.

I have also noted the way some staff, at all levels interact with mum, in a friendly way even when met with a negative response.Staff also take time to take my mother on walks and to visit the other Cottages, in order to have a break from her current situation.

The staff provide specialist care for those with enhanced dementia needs when other care homes have some times failed to provide this,  thus actually offering a service we would be lost without (Wake up people of Sheffield).

My main focus for writing this review is to ensure staff know their efforts do not go unnoticed and are valued.

In the current climate of financial restraint and upheaval in Social Care provision due to under funding, I would ask the Government , Sheffield CCG  and Sheffield Social Services to ensure that this home remains fully funded in order to ensure individual care packages are adequately maintained and fully funded for each individual And ensuring that family members are given the chance to get involved and offer feedback.

Many thanks

Thank you very much for your feedback! As one of the managers at Woodland View, I am pleased to read that you feel that any concerns you have are listened to and that you are happy with the care provided.

I have let the staff know of your positive comments!
