On the 15th october 2017 i was not feeling well, pale, sweaty, nausea and horrific crushing chest pains. Only being 38 did not want to think heart attack... My husband phoned 111 who were amazing and sent an ambulance out immediately. It reached me in 8 minutes. The paramedics martin and Susie were supportive and caring throughout. I was connected to an ECG and they phoned it through and it was decided to take me straight to City hospital to the trent cardiac unit.
I was greeted by the Consultant and his team who took me through for an aniagram. The staff were helpful, caring and supportive through out not just towards me but my husband. My arteries were fine but my ECG was reading heart attack...
I was kept in for a week, had regular bloods taken, ecg and echos... still very weak and poorly. Then i had a MRI and it came back as heart attack due to a blood clot in my heart and I was diagnosed with heart failure and dialted cardiomyopathy...
I owe my life to the amazing NHS team that night .. from the moment we phoned 111 to the day i was discharged with medication... They worked together and did everything to find out what was wrong with me.. They supported me and my husband throughout our stay, nothing was to hard for them and always smiling even when it was hard.
They still continue to support me on my journey with my illness and are always there for support and appointments .. I have an amazing nurse at qmc in heart failure team who is always at the end of the phone...
A massive thankyou to the paramedics, the trent cardiac team at city hospital, the Consultant and his team and the heart failure team at Qmc.... im very lucky to be here and enjoying my life to the best i can .... THANKYOU xx
"Excellent service from the start"
