"It was a very traumatic experience , my pain..."

About: Lincoln County Hospital

What I liked

Most of the staff were very kind (nurses)

What could be improved

I would have liked to have got ready on the word before I went down to the operating theatre for my 9 hour spinal reconstruction operation , they started to get me ready in the day room and then moved me into the word toilet and the toilet was very dirty, this should never happen to anybody and I would like this to be improved so no one has the worry like I did of picking germs up and transferring them to the operating theatre.

I would have liked to have been helped more when I was dressing , I don't know what I would have done if my husband hadn't helped me.

Also my pain killers were never on time so I was in severe pain and on the day I was discharged they took my prescription away at lunch time to sort my medication out and I was left in agony and they came back that evening with a big bag full of medication with no instruction on which combination to take, we had to ask our local pharmacist .

Anything else?

The word was very under staffed and the Patients were very neglected due to this.

It was hard to read your story as it is clear that you had a very worrying time and the standards of care you describe fall way below what we expect; I am extremely sorry for this.

It would be difficult for me to comment specifically without more detail and I am conscious that my response to you will perhaps seem inadequate.

I have passed your feedback to senior staff at Lincoln County Hospital and they will share your story with staff as we use our patient’s feedback proactively to improve and develop the quality of our services. If you would like to discuss your experience further then please do not hesitate to get in contact via patient.involvement@ulh.nhs.uk.

Please once again accept my apologies but also my thanks for taking the time to feedback to us, I would like to assure you that we have listened and will use your experience.
