"child referred to the wrong surgery, long wait..."

About: Queen Alexandra Hospital

My eldest had a surgery well planned and we knew what to expext, X-rays taken etc. On the day of the surgery turned out the last doctor who filled in plan for surgery made the wrong plan and the surgent had to cancel it after checking it personally on the day. Further appointment to correct this was needed basically to confirm what was always obvious.

We were told to wait for the surgery again and I patiently did so but on the 3rd month of waiting rung them to discover we have never been placed on the waiting list! We were told we have to wait again as nothing can be done about it.

My youngest was ill and I cancelled appointment, was promised another will be made and letter sent. After 2 months of silence I rung them to ask about it just to fing out that system kicked her out after last cancellation. I complained and was finally offered first appointment. The doctor gave us unclear instructions and our letter was never posted to us. I had to make a lot of phone calls to clarify things and eventually they found a letter in their system and snt it to us. There was different information then what was said to us during appointment and we were promised another appointment. It has been 4 months since and the date of further appointment was cancelled 4 times already. No call, no explanation. I rang them to ask about it “consultant has cancelled his clinic” , apparently another consultant will no help- dead end. Even if we are now offered another appointment it is not guaranteed it will not be cancelled witin the very same week and another date will arrive adding you another month of waiting. Who cares? You? Well...

Too many mistakes just for one family, try and imagine the whole department.

Scary.
