My wife died from stomach cancer on April 24th this year and prior to her death was under the care of Dr Liverey at the Avenue Medical Practice. The standard of care was absolutely first-class, appointments immediately there when needed, home visits were done when asked. Liason with St Luke's Hospice was good, resulting in my wife being admitted very when it was felt that in-patient care was necessary to bring her medication under control. The service from administration with regard to prescription etc was also excellent.
The district nurses were extremely efficient and responded to calls between regular visits promptly and with good humour. The provision of a night-nurse for the two weeks my wife was at home before she died was an absolute godsend which we could not have done without. Finally when my wife died Dr Liverey came in from his holiday to sign the death certificate and thus prevent the need from a post mortem examination.
All in all the system works perfectly when someone is in genuine urgent need - thank you.
