I was taken to airedale in the early hours of Sunday with breathing difficulties after a 90min wait for an ambulance. I was being triaged when another patient came in who started to vomit, although I was having blood taken I gave my permission for the single nurse to sort him out with a bowl. He continued to be ill so I suggested to the nurse I put my finger on my needle to hold it in place whilst she sort him out. She was very grateful.
I was then asked to wait to see a doctor and with no monitoring was left in a waiting room for nearly 3 hrs. On seeing a doc I was told I needed to be admitted. Then the wait for a bed began.......7 hrs. Once on a ward I was left with no drink from 18:30 to 07:00 although my charts were completed as drinks available. Also concerned about smartcard being left in computers when visitors on wards. All in all a nightmare, I would be very reluctant to go back to Airedale.A formal complaint will be following.
"Dreadful service from seriously understaffed A..."
