My father was admitted to Wycombe Hospital with a suspected stroke. He turned out to have had a seizure and went into arrest. He was admitted to the dedicated stroke ward (Ward 8) but due to the severity of his condition it became apparent that he was not going to recover and he received palliative care until he died about a week later. My family and I cannot speak highly enough of the care shown to my father and us. Sitting next to the bed of a mostly unresponsive patient gives time to become aware of what is going on around you and we were impressed by the care, kindness and encouragement shown to all the patients (many of whom were elderly, given the nature of the ward) from all the medical staff - doctors, nurses, OTs, physiotherapists, health assistants. The multi national teams all worked well together for the benefit of their patients
