"Wrong Medicitaion prescribed"

About: Sudbury & Alperton Medical Centre

(as a service user),

I went to my local pharmacy and was handed over my repeat prescriptions. On checking the medications, I was shocked to see a new medication listed.

Without any knowledge of this medication, I queried it with my pharmacist who tried to contact the surgery. After a 10 minute delay in getting through to the surgery, they advised I was prescribed this by the endocrologist and would need to contact my GP for further information.

Being a diabetic I was very anxious to get an appointment. On my appointment the Doctor checked all my blood results and there was nothing to indicate I needed the new medication. They then checked with their seniors who also came to check my results. I was then informed it was prescribed incorrectly. I wasn’t even given an apology.

I feel this is a very serious issue and the service let me down.

Dear Patient,

I am so sorry to learn about your experience. Please accept my apologies for the same. We will ask our clinical pharmacist to review our repeat prescribing process to minimise such risks in future.
