"Kindness and concern"

About: Falkirk Community Hospital / Opthalmology

(as a relative),

My Mum needed an urgent appointment at the eye clinic because her sight had been failing. We were met personally when we arrived, which was reassuring at an anxious time. There was a long wait but it was explained that this was because of several serious cases during the day, so the delay was understandable. The tests were carried out efficiently. When the time came for the consultation the news was not good, but the consultant took all the time needed to explain the situation and its implications clearly and with kindness, and to enable us to ask questions. Afterwards, at his suggestion, we sat in the waiting area for a while. The wonderful nurse was kind and thoughtful as we spoke together and as we left.

This could have been a trying and distressing experience for Mum but the over-riding memory is one of compassion and care, for which we are very thankful.

Thank you very much for taking the time to leave such positive feedback about your mothers visit to the Eye Clinic. We understand that visiting hospital can be difficult and stressful and we are all pleased that your visit went smoothly.

Although there was a wait in the clinic for you, we do try to keep patients and relatives updated and give every patient the time they require with the staff. I will certainly pass your thanks on to our team.

Thanks again, Kirsty
