I'm currently 18 weeks pregnant which is meant to be an exciting time and somewhat nerve wracking.
Having said that it is hoped that your antenatal care from your GP surgery/midwife would help alleviate some worries.
Instead, it is felt that Wake Green Surgery are almost going out of their way to add to the stress.
I was informed at my booking appointment with the midwife that once I have received my 12 week scan I should contact the surgery to arrange a 16 week appointment with my midwife as well as a whooping cough vaccination.
I did as I was told.
I had my 16 week appointment with the midwife which was ok, but felt that I was simply just the next pregnant woman to be seen that day.
My whooping cough vaccination was annoyingly booked for the next day which I understand can't be helped due to the allocation of appointments.
Having said that, I was informed shortly before this first appointment that it needed to be re-arranged as the nurse wouldn't have been in. This was on the 6th February.
On the 12th February I arrived at the surgery for the rearranged appointment to only find out whilst I was there that the nurse wasn't present and that the appointment needed to be rearranged.
You can imagine my frustration.
The appointment was again re-arranged for the 20th February.
I had a phone call on the 16th February telling me that the nurse once again wouldn't be in so needed to be rearranged.
I expressed my disappointment and suggested that they employ a more reliable nurse.
I also explained the number of times the appointment had already been rearranged so a note was put on my file.
You can imagine how excited I was to receive a text message on the 22nd Feb at 10:02 confirming my appointment at 4:30pm the following day to then receive a follow up text message at 13:41 regretfully informing me that once again my appointment had been cancelled.
I'm not sure why it's taken me so long to decide to move GP practice.
"Whooping Cough Vaccination cancelled 4 times!"
