I came into RD and E for an elective section after a traumatic first birth. Every member of staff involved in the decision making from the consultant, to the anaesthetist (who was phenomenal) and the surgeon were professional, respectful and compassionate in the care that they gave. I had thought that the surgeon may be somewhat aloof given his role, but I was very wrong and he showed interest and care for myself and my husband as we sought out a more straightforward and relaxed experience this time around. All of the support staff were similarly friendly and professional, regardless of their role in the surgery. Having felt apprehensive about being judged negatively for choosing a section (despite knowing it was right for me), I was so pleased to find a relaxed and friendly atmosphere where those involved were so clear on their roles it was a well oiled machine from start to finish.
In recovery and on the post-natal ward we received similarly attentive care and I was delighted to be able to discuss.my concerns regarding feeding having struggled to breastfeed first time round. Midwives and Maternity Support Workers were understanding and supportive. It was so good to feel heard at a vulnerable time.
"Wonderful experience before during & after..."
