"Over 8 hours wait with info whatsoever...."

About: Bradford Royal Infirmary / Accident and emergency

I took my father in law to a&e for broken ankles care and despite that he is an elderly senior and was taken on a wheel chair, its been over 8 hours now and we are still waiting him to be seen by a dr. Let alone xrays etc.

We came at around 00:15 hours and with 4 hours wait as told by the nurse, its 8:46 in the morning and staff has double checked the remaining patients twice by calling their names. No calls and patients are literally sleeping in the waiting area.

I can understand that there is some wait in a&e but 8+ hours are beyond my understanding. The staff has no clue whatsoever and we are still there while the whole shift has changed. Absolutely third class service. I wish I had taken him to some other hospital.

I am sorry that your father-in-law had such a long wait and overall poor experience.

The staff in A&E try to see and treat everybody as quickly as possible, however it is a very busy and challenging place to work.

If you would like to speak with someone about your father-in-law's treatment or would like us to investigate specific issues around this visit please contact our Patient Experience Team on 01274 364810 or via email on patient.experienc@bthft.nhs.uk.
