"What a mess!"

About: Shepway Community Mental Health Team

The entirety of this health team is appalling!

I am a member of the Personality Disorder therapeutic community as Ash Eton. The whole place is a joke. The therapists are unreliable and inconsistent. Boundaries are supposed to be extremely important in this community and yet where some people are made to face the consequences of breaking said boundaries, others are left to do as they please. There are cliques, gossiping and childlike antics. I feel as if I am back at school and unfortunately school is half the reason I’m as ill as I am in the first place.

As for the community mental health team that occupies the other half of the building, I could not be more appalled by their “service”. I have not had a care coordinator in 4 years and apparently there are no longer any care coordinators actually working there!! I saw a psychologist (only works there 3 days a month) nearly 2 months ago and was told to start coming off my medication, so as to change to something different, and that I would be seen again in 6 weeks. Nearly 2 months later and I have not had a follow up appointment and have been left to my own devices with regards to my medication. NOT something that should be messed with!!

All in all, I highly recommend you avoid this place like the plague!

Dear Elizabeth, We are really sorry to hear your frustrations with the services at Ash Eton.

We are concerned to read that you feel that boundaries are unfairly applied and would encourage you to speak to the new team leader

who is also the principle psychologist to the service, and who would be pleased to understand your experiences and see what we can do to improve.

We are also sorry to note the difficulties you have had with your care coordination under the Shepway CMHT.

It would be helpful to look into your case to see how we can better ensure you are supported and so we ask that you contact the CMHT team leader on 01303 227510 who will be pleased to look into these concerns.

If you would prefer to raise your concerns with someone independent of the service then please contact PALS on 0800 783 9972 or email pals@kmpt.nhs.uk.

Please mention that you have been directed to them by this response on NHS Choices.
