Whoever designed the Blood Tests area at the new QEII hospital needs to go back to the drawing board so they don’t make the same mistake again!
This is probably one of the busiest departments in the hospital with very long waiting times and nowhere pleasant for patients to wait.
My husband and I needed fasting blood tests today and arrived by 7.50am – the queue was already down to the reception desk.
We left at 10am having had to sit on the window sills in the cold air-conditioned corridor for the two hours.
As you look out on the lovely garden area which I have never seen anyone use, you wonder why some of the large open space was not used to make a sensible sized waiting room, which could take prams and wheelchairs if necessary.
Is the queuing system in Blood Tests linked to the car park?
One wonders if you are just tipped over the two hours parking fee on purpose to increase car park revenue!
I’ve no objection to paying to use the car park but £5.30 for a blood test when the time taken is no fault of your own is a bit steep!
However, perhaps that is why everyone is now parking along the access road to the car park causing severe congestion – to avoid the high charges!
