I was very nervous about my appointment discussing contraception. The nurse didn’t listen to anything I said or my concerns and just clicked through a questionnaire. She even stopped adding some of my taken medecin into the system as I had already given her “lots” and handed me a generic pill without describing why this particular one would be suitable for me (I was worried about mood swings as i suffer from mental health problems - this was ignored)
She kept insisting I change my mind on removing my IUD device (she gave the impression it was not because it would benefit me to keep it but probably because it would take her a long time to do it and couldn’t be bothered) and gave me the impression she hadn’t preformed the procedure before, I felt very unsafe and scared.
She even joked saying “well if I hadn’t done this before- What would you do about it?”
The opening device was even left in my cervix afterwards and I was asked to get dressed - I had to point out she had forgotten to remove it.
I am completely in shock by the lack of care and attention I was given as a patient and I left feeling confused and upset.
It was even commented that my appointment had taken 20 minutes+ and that wasn’t good for her. I am not just a number or a punch card and I needed to be told more information about the procedure, I really hope this clinic trains it staff on patient care and listening skills and takes aboard this critism.
