"A friendly, inclusive practice!"

About: Allerton Medical Centre

I have been with this practice for over twenty years. I had been living abroad and, on my return, knew I needed to register with an NHS practice. A friend recommended Allerton Medical Centre but I was so terrified of doctors I could not even step over the threshold to enter the building. A kind and resourceful receptionist fetched a doctor who registered me in the garden! I remember saying that I would never be ill and need to return! Of course I was wrong and, like most of us, have needed to consult a doctor and the practice nurses for a variety of ailments and check-ups over the years. I have no problem entering the building now!

Since that first encounter, there have been many changes to the personnel, mostly through retirement, but that original caring and inclusive attitude has not altered. I have always found the receptionists, the nurses, the practice manager and the doctors themselves to be friendly, professional, approachable and kind. I feel like a person and not a number. I feel listened to. I feel safe! Recently, the newest doctor to join the practice has shown herself to be a skilled diagnostician with her 'joined-up' holistic approach, so I have every reason to be optimistic about the future, despite my advancing years!

We have spoken in person about your experience at the practice so I wanted to say thank you for writing this entry here. It gives the team such a boost to see feedback directly from our patients in this way. We are so grateful when any of our patients take the time to tell us when we are getting it right - it means a lot. Thank you.
