"..you have helped me so much!"

Following a severe bout of labyrinthitis in November 2009 I was left with extreme and constant vertigo.

I was treated with various drugs none of which had any effect. The symptoms were so marked that I was forced to give up my Director level career in Advertising. Unable to undertake basic tasks I sold our home in Berkshire and moved nearer my family in Bolton.

My new GP recognised the impact that the dizzyness was having on my day to day life and referred me to a neurologist who then introduced me to the audio vestibular department of Bolton Hospital.

Dr Umapathy the specialist consultant is without doubt the most caring, competent health professional I have ever met. After reviewing my test results and history, Dr Umapathy stopped all drug therapies and placed me on an appropriate physiotherapy regime.

Gillian Lomas the specialist physiotherapist has made a huge difference to my life. I was feeling as if I would never regain enough confidence to enter 'real' life again but after several months of fairly intensive audio vestibular physiotherapy I am beginning to leave the house with the support of my husand and a stout stick!

I had never heard of this department prior to this but I am now acutely aware of the amazing work they do.
