The 3.5 hour course was brilliant. Gill delivered the course material in a way that was easily understood by us all, kept the pace going so we finished on time but allowed time for questions as we went along.
The analogy of “rusty locks” to explain insulin resistance was inspired and the printed material to support the course is excellent. Well done for providing free pedometers and explaining what sort of exercise is needed and the dietary advice was great. I am not surprised that 74% of people have improved HbA1c’s after attending the course!
I have recently been diagnosed as pre-diabetic and it came as a shock partly because I have a normal BMI, eat a low fat, low sugar diet and run 5K twice a week and am very active, but there are still some changes that I can make!
I didnt tell the group last week but I am a nurse and did the Kings diabetic course in 2006 and helped run the diabetic clinic at the GP surgery where I was a nurse for many years.
So thankyou for running this course - it is very worthwhile.
