About: BPAS Streatham CC/Clinic

I had an abortion here at the Streatham Clinic, I was 11 weeks 6 days pregnant when I had the surgical abortion. This was a very hard decision for me full of guilt and pain but the staff made me feel so comfortable and at ease. I was terrified of course leading up to the operation I ended up being sick before from all the nerves. The only issue I had was the first lady I saw who gave me the tablets to take under my tongue was quite abrupt and rude to me. She didn't make me feel at ease, she was blunt and never asked how I was feeling or anything. Also she didn't even wait for the tablets to dissolve under my tongue, she just sent me straight back into the main waiting area with about 15 other people all sat looking at you when you come back in which I thought was wrong. Also the tablet made me get awful cramps and a lot of discomfort which was not explained to me, again in a room full of other people watching you cry to your mum while your in pain is not acceptable to me. I feel once you've had the tablet you should be in a separate room as there was also another girl grabbing her tummy and crying she looked in a lot of pain. But onto more positive things.. The lady who took me to get changed into the gown and slippers was truly wonderful, made me feel so calm and even made me laugh at such an awful time. I told her I was scared and she went and got my mum for me which was lovely, she even explained that my mum could come in when I had the operation but I obviously declined but I still thought she made such an effort to make me feel better. I can't remember this ladies name but thank you so much! The women in the operating room were also amazing, by this point I was shaking and so nervous but they talked to me the whole time. I had conscious sedation which did help but towards the end of the treatment I got quite distressed, they held my hand and rubbed my shoulders to calm me down, again thank you. I was taken to the recovery room given tea and biscuits and water, my blood pressure was checked and heart rate multiple times, taken to make sure I was passing urine and not bleeding too heavily too, I was taken care of so wonderfully and I can't thank you all enough...what you do is not easy at all... X
