"Excellent Service at Short Notice"

About: Windermere Health Centre

I received an injury whilst on a sailing holiday in Windermere.

I knew I needed medical help but not A&E.

I phoned the Practice from the boat and explained I wasn’t registered with their Surgery but could I have an appointment with the Nurse Practitioner. The very helpful staff on reception checked, then told me I could see the Nurse if I could get back for 1715. Fantastic news.

I arrived just on time and seen fairly quickly,

The Nurse said she may need assistance from a Doctor and found Doctor Julie. It was immediately apparent that the Doctor was going to fix me. Her manner helped me to relax and I was confident that she was keen to keep any pain to a minimum.

What we initially hoped would be a 5 minute procedure took a while longer as it proved a tricky task. All the time the Doctor kept me aware of progress and she was keen to ensure I was comfortable.

The procedure was soon completed and the Nurse gave me a tetanus injection, dressed my wound and advised me on aftercare.

All together it was an excellent end to an unfortunate accident. It highlighted the accessibility and professionalism of the NHS in general but The Windermere Practice in particular. Thank you very much to all concerned.
